County
Regional
Medical
Center
(RCRMC)
was awarded
$917,081.64
by the
Morongo
Band of
Mission
Indians
Tribal
Council
to be
used for
the purchase
of laboratory
and radiology
equipment
for use
in the
Emergency
Department,
and an
Infant
Abduction
Prevention
Security
System
for the
Newborn
Nursery.
The funds
were made
available
through
an existing
law that
creates
in the
State
Treasury
the Indian
Gaming
Special
Distribution
Fund.
SB621
established,
until
January
1, 2009,
the method
to calculate
the distribution
of appropriations
from the
Indian
Gaming
Special
Distribution
Fund for
grants
to local
government
al agencies
impacted
by tribal
gaming.
It is
under
SB621
that RCRMC
was able
to apply
and receive
this grant.
