Now the whole community knows too.  That's becaue our hospital has been recognized by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for the achievement in the Get With The Guidelines - Stroke quality program. Another reason to feel good about Riverside County Regional Medical Center.

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize this hospital for achieving 85% or highter adherence to all Get With The Guidelines Stroke Performance Achievement indicators for consecutive 12 month intervals and 75% or higher compliance on at least 5 of the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Quality Measures to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.

When Jake Ainsworth sought help for a torn ligament in his left knee he never expected that the outpatient exploratory surgery he underwent would devolve into a medical nightmare.

"Within hours, it started to get infected," says Ainsworth. "By the next morning, I was in excruciating pain, and by that evening, I was in the emergency ward...My knee will never be the same."

The procedure introduced staph bacteria into Ainsworth's knee. Treatment for the resulting infection included four surgeries that left the Ventura County physical education teacher mostly bedridden for six months, in physical therapy for many more months, and in pain through all of it.

Angie Taylor Keeps It Positive In Medical Records

taylorAngie Taylor spends a good part of each day hunting down patient records and helping doctors complete the cumber? some paper charts that fill shelf after shelf of the Medical Records Department in the hospital's lower level.

The department, where Angie is as a medical records technician, moves at least a thousand charts a day to the hospital's inpatient units, ancillary departments and outpatient clinics. Each chart contains the unique medical history of a patient. Their contents are crucial to helping healthcare providers determine and document a patient's medical course and information.
