Hand Hygiene in the 21st Century
For more than 100 years we have known that infection can be
spread by the hands of caring and competent physicians, nurses,
and other care givers.
When Ignaz Semmelweis discovered this, he was so passionate about
hand hygiene that he accused doctors of "murdering" patients
by refusing to wash their hands. He died in an insane asylum.
We know this. However we can't SEE the germs so at times
it may not seem real. It is. This course from the Centers
for Disease Control presents both the Why and the How of
effective Hand Hygiene.
