Catheter-associated Urinary Tract Infections cause up to 35% - 40% of nosocomial infections in acute and long-term care facilities. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement has made preventing or reducing catheter-associated UTI's one of its priorities.
There is no single cause for these infections and thus prevention of them involves efforts by all members of the healthcare team. This course will present some specific steps each member of the team can take to protect our patients.
At Riverside County Regional Medical Center we use Bard urinary catheters which are treated to reduce infection. We appreciate their support of this training.
