Compared to the number of surgeries performed in the United
States, the incidence of wrong site surgery is low. However,
when it does occur it is devasting to both the patient and
surgeon, as well as the whole team involved in treating the
patient.
The Universal Protocol was developed and implemented to improve
Patient Safety by helping to reduce the incidence of wrong
site surgery..
At Riverside County Regional Medical Center we are actively
working to provide safe and effective patient care. In this
course Dr Arnold Tabuenca presents the Universal Protocol
and discusses how to use it effectively.
