Abuse
Services
provides
multidisciplinary
forensic
exams
for
patients,
from
infants
to elders,
who
have
suffered
abuse
or neglect.
The
Center
encompasses
the
Sexual
Assault
Response
Team
(SART),
Riverside
Child
Assessment
Team
(RCAT)
and
Dependent, Adult
and
Elder
Services. Through
a multidisciplinary
team
approach,
Riverside
County
Regional
Medical
Center,
Department
of Public
and
Social
Services,
Law
Enforcement,
District
Attorney
and
Rape
Crisis,
provides
forensic
medical
exams,
emergency
medical
care,
crisis
intervention,
social
services,
advocacy,
and
accompaniment
through
medical
and
legal
procedures
for
victims
of abuse
and
their
families.
This
multidisciplinary
approach
minimizes
the
trauma
that
often
accompanies
the
victimization
process.
The
staff
also
provides
expert
testimony,
as well
as consultation
and
training
to community
agencies
and
schools.
All
professional
medical
staff
has
completed
training
standards
consistent
with
the
California
Medical
Protocol
for
Abuse
Examinations
from
the
California
Governor’s
Office
of Emergency
Services. The
professional
staff
includes
physicians,
nurse
practitioners
and
registered
nurses. Other
members
of the
RCRMC
Center
of Excellence
Staff
include
clinical therapists,
medical
assistants
and
administrative
support
staff.
