Nursing
Departments
At RCRMC,
patients’ needs
are
identified
by means
of thorough
assessments
performed
by multiple
disciplines.
These
assessments
take
into
consideration
physiological,
psychosocial,
cultural,
spiritual
and
age-specific
needs.
Adult
and
Neonatal
Intensive
Care
Units
RCRMC’s
Intensive
Care
Units
(ICU)
house
patients
in need
of intensive
care
related
to medicine,
neurosurgery,
neonatology,
pediatrics
and
surgery.
Adult
and
neonatal
ICUs
are
both
located
on the
second
floor,
Building
F.
Adult
Critical
Care
Units
RCRMC
has
24 beds
dedicated
to Adult
Critical
Care
Units
(ACCU),
located
on the
second
floor,
Building
D.
The
ACCU
provides
patient
care
to critically
ill
patients,
to those
with
a high
risk
potential,
and
to those
requiring
special
therapeutic,
diagnostic
and
pharmacological
interventions
who
are
16 years
of age
and
older.
This
covers
a variety
of patients,
including
medical,
surgical,
trauma,
neurological,
neurosurgical,
orthopedic,
Ear/Nose/Throat
(ENT),
urological,
gynecological,
obstetrical,
and
ophthalmologic.
Progressive
Care
Unit
The
Progressive
Care
Unit
houses
33 beds
and
is located
on the
second
floor,
Building
C.
The
Progressive
Care
Unit
provides
high
quality,
skilled
care
for
patients
aged
16 and
older,
who
require
telemetry
for
cardiac
monitoring,
for
neurosurgical
step-down
patients
requiring
close
observation,
and
for
higher
acuity
patients
who
no longer
meet
critical
care
criteria.
Pediatrics
and
Pediatric
Intensive
Care
Unit
RCRMC’s
Pediatric
Unit
is a
special
place.
RCRMC’s
Child
Life
Specialist
and
highly
qualified
nurses
know
how
to help
youngsters
from
birth
to 16
years
deal
with
the
overwhelming
experience
of being
hospitalized.
And
they’re
aware
of the
challenges
the
parents
and
guardians
of these
children
face
as well.
The
Pediatric
Unit
is located
on the
third
floor,
Building
D.
The
Pediatric
Unit
is secured
and
all
visitors
are
screened.
A special
electronic
identification
system
is utilized,
which
prevents
children
wandering
out
of the
unit.
For
any
child
experiencing
a more
serious
illness,
RCRMC
maintains
a Pediatric
Intensive
Care
Unit
(PICU).
RCRMC
has
the
only
PICU
in Riverside
County,
and
is also
a designated
Pediatric
Trauma
Center.
Pediatric
Intensivists
and
highly
trained
nurses
certified
in advanced
life
support,
specializing
in the
care
of critically
ill
children,
staff
the
PICU.
The
unit
houses
specialized
equipment
such
as pediatric
ventilators
and
intensive
care
cribs
to immediately
provide
necessary
care.
Additionally,
the
NICU
and
the
PICU
both
have
specially
trained
staff
available
to transport
neonates
and
pediatric
patients
to RCRMC.
Obstetrics,
Labor & Delivery,
Birthing
Center,
Newborn
Nursery
RCRMC
treats
all
expectant
mothers
and
their
newborns
with
special
care
and
state-of-the-art
equipment,
including
central
monitoring
and
computer
charting.
The
Birthing
Center
has
12 Labor
/ Delivery
/ Recovery
suites,
as well
as two
C-Section
suites.
On-site
antepartum
testing
and
care
for
high
risk
pregnancies
is also
available.
With
40 obstetric
beds
and
32 newborn
nursery
cribs,
RCRMC
is well
prepared
to accommodate
Riverside
County’s
booming
population.
All
infants
are
protected
with
an electronic
infant
safety
and
security
system.

General
Surgery
RCRMC’s
34-bed
General
Surgery
Unit
provides
services
to non-critical
patients
age
16 and
older.
These
services
cover
a wide
range,
including
pre-
and
post-operative
patients
in need
of general
surgery,
gynecology
surgery,
and
urology
surgery.
Care
is also
provided
here
to trauma
patients,
non‑surgical
patients
needing
therapies
such
as chemotherapy,
blood
and
blood
product
transfusions
and
to medical
overflow
patients.
The
General
Surgery
Unit
is located
on the
third
floor,
Building
C.
Surgical
Specialties
On the
34-bed
Surgical
Specialties
Unit,
services
are
provided
to non-critical
patients
age
16 and
older.
Musculoskeletal
trauma
and
disease,
including
joint
replacement,
open
reduction
and
internal
fixation,
osteomyelitis,
laminectomy,
and
repair
of tendons
and
nerves
are
just
a few
of the
specialties
covered.
Other
services
include
plastic
surgery,
Ear/Nose/Throat
(ENT),
oral
and
maxillofacial
surgery
(OMFS),
neurosurgery
and
radioiodine
therapy.
Surgical
Specialties
is located
on third
floor,
Building
A.
Surgical
Spine
A recent
addition
to RCRMC,
the
Surgical
Spine
Unit
opened
in July
2005.
This
unit
is dedicated
to the
pre-
and
post-operative
care
of patients
requiring
back
or spinal
surgeries.
All
patients
on this
unit
receive
private
rooms
and
specialized
care
for
their
needs.
The
Surgical
Spine
Unit
is located
on the
fourth
floor,
Building
A.
Peri-Operative
Services
RCRMC’s
ten-suite
operating
room
provides
24 hour
a day
service
to specialties
including:
Endoscopy,
Ear/Nose/Throat
(ENT),
General
and
Vascular
Surgery,
Neurosurgery,
Obstetrics
and
Gynecology,
Ophthalmology,
Organ
Procurement
through
OneLegacy,
Orthopedics,
Plastics,
Urology,
and
Spine
Surgery.
The
Same
Day
Surgery
Unit
offers
optimum
patient
outcome
following
surgical
intervention
through
accurate
patient
assessment
for
all
specialties.
